He started as an opening batsman only to graduate further to a brilliant bowler. As a bowler he started as a medium paced and then found his mojo in the spin department. The journey of eight years since his first time being at the top has not been easy with Ashwin having to fight internal and external demons. The first two test has been dominated by the Indian Bowlers and Ashwin leading the pack . Ashwin has 14 wickets in the 2-test played and has significant contribution with the bat too. The Third test saw India not applying in the first innings and paying the price by a 9-wicket defeat. Ashwin kept the Indian team in the race in the third test but unfortunately the first inning Indian batting collapse was an irreparable one and India lost the match and the series is now poised at 2-1 in India’s favour. India needs the 4^th Test to go their way for the World Test Championship berth or wait for the Sri Lanka series results to go India’s favour
