DY Patil Stadium is now slowly changing its reputation to a bowl first pitch with the last match seeing Marizanne Kapp bowling her best spell in a T20 match, taking 5 wickets. The Pitch has a dark green colour tinch and it is giving lateral movement for the Slow medium pace bowlers. With the Last game between Gujarat and Delhi saw Gujarat winning the toss and chose to bat first. That was a tactical blunder and Delhi cashed on it by restricting Gujarat to a low total. Outfield is quick but due to slowness of the pitch the average first innings total is 179 but the last few games have been showing shockingly low scores. It is still a great chasing ground and team winning the toss will want to bowl first here chasing.

Delhi came back with a bang against Gujarat after their embarrassing loss against the Mumbai Indians. Meg Lanning was a captain possessed and the defeat against Mumbai has brought the team back into their winning ways. The tournament is getting to the business end and all teams have more or less settled into their eleven.

Delhi Team has got their mojo back and the return of form of their maverick allrounder, Marizanne Kapp will make Captain Meg Lanning confident of going ahead into the tournament as one of the favourites. With Shafali Verma’s Swashbuckling innings against Gujarat Giants, the opening pair has nicely settled for the Capitals. The middle order looks strong with Marizanne Kapp and Jemimah Rodrigues holding fort. The other players can work around and give support to make Delhi the team to beat (after Mumbai Indians)

Royal Challengers have not got the tournament go their favour till date. Off-field, they tried all unconventional methods of building up the team by getting non cricketer in Saniya as team- mentor. They have a poor lower middle order batting line-up and a weak bowling line-up reminiscent to their male team in the IPL. The tournament is almost done and dusted for them and are unlikely to be in the top 3 from hereon but for a mathematical possibility. A thin ray of hope still lingers and hope the RCB team will hold on it with dear life and make a turnaround. The form of Smriti Mandhana is a huge concern and her weak captaincy is getting exposed game after game. It is advisable for Smriti to focus on batting and for couple of matches pass the captaincy baton to Sophie Devine or Heather Knight who are in good form. Shreyanka Patil needs to be exposed a little more in the field of play as she has shown promise.
