Match Preview

Rajasthan Royals will take on Delhi Capitals for the 11th match of the TATA IPL on Saturday, 08 April 2023 at 03:30 PM IST.

Rajasthan has been in red hot form but missed the bus in the last match by a whisker when they lost to Punjab Kings by just 5 Runs in a high scoring encounter. Rajasthan scored 192 runs chasing 197 Runs. Delhi on the other hand is still looking for their first win and have lost 2 games in a row. Dew will not come in place as this is a day match.

Rajasthan Royals:

The biggest concern for Rajasthan Royals will be the fitness of Jos Butler who injured his little finger while fielding. Jose did not open the innings but did come to bat but did not score too many. Butler missing the game will mean a big dent in the Royal’s batting line-up. The experiment to send Ravichandra Ashwin in the last match was not successful and the Royals may rethink on going back to their old lineup. Sanju Samson had a good first two games and is in red hot form. If Injury is not too grave for Butler then Jose might take on the gloves as Sanju Samson is an excellent outfielder . The form of Yuzvendra Chahal has helped Royals to keep the scoreboard in check. There was no swing in the last match played in this ground and hence Trent Boult may be not as affective in case there is no swing in this match too.

Delhi Capitals:

Delhi Capital is searching for their first win as they have lost 2 games at a trot. The form of Prithvi Shaw is a concern and his susceptibility to the short ball is being used by all opponents and has become a walking wicket. As this pitch do not have lot of carry, Prithvi might be able to come up to the bounce and play freely.  Sarfaraz Khan who has piled runs in the domestic circuit is trying too many shots before being set. His last dismissal was a school boyish mistake and hopefully he would have learnt from it. Delhi as a whole is not in good batting form and they will need to rectify the same. With Anrich Nortje back in the squad, bowling in the initial overs are taken care of but bowling post the Nortje spell is thin and Delhi would want a replacement to Khaleel Ahmed who is among wickets but has been too expensive. Death overs are a big problem for the Delhi side, Mitchel Marsh can single handed snatch a win for Delhi from any opponent, but he too has not hit the straps. Abhishek Porel has been a positive and has solved the wicketkeeper mystery for Delhi Capitals.
