Top 10 players who will be the most expensive in the Mini IPL Auction

Mitchel Starc

Expected Price – 15 Crores +

Mitchel Starc

Australian South Paw will be the biggest attraction in the mini-auction. One of the fastest left-arm pacers in the current circuit will attract a huge bidding war and every franchise team will bid for the bowler.

RCB and KKR will want to get back their ex-player in the team and will go hard for the player.

Starc has put himself in the highest base price category of Rs 2 crore but is expected to cross 15 crores in the bidding war.

Starc has adapted well to the subcontinental conditions and proved to be a great asset for the Australian team in the recent ODI World Cup

Pat Cummins

Expected Price – 15 Crores +

Pat Cummins

Australian World Cup winning captain will be on the radar of every team. He is a complete player and can prove his worth both with Bat and ball.

GT will go hard for the Australian to compensate for their loss of Hardik Pandya

Rachin Ravindra

Expected Price – 15 Crores +

Rachin Ravindra

Rachin Ravindra proved to be the best player on debut in the recently concluded ODI World Cup. He will be an ideal opener and can bowl 4 overs making him a rare commodity in the auction pool.

Teams who are looking for an opener will bid very high.  CSK and RCB will look to get the service of the southpaw.

Rachin scored 578 runs — the most for any New Zealand player in the World Cup with three centuries under his belt.

Shardul Thakur

Expected Price – 15 Crores +

Shardul Thakur

Shardul Thakur may be the biggest surprise element in the mini-auction for more than one reason. Shardul is an allrounder who will owl his 4 overs and can be a late-order hard hitter for any side.

Every team will look to have all-rounders and Shardul will be high on the priority for Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians.

Gerald Coetzee

Expected Price – 12 Crores +

Gerald Coetzee

Gerald Coetzee caught the eye of every cricket enthusiast in the recently concluded ODI World Cup 2023. The South African impressed both with the ball and the bat.  Gerald Coetzee picked up 20 wickets in the ODI World Cup in just 8 matches.

A bowling allrounder is a rare commodity and will be a Hot pick in the mini auction for season 2024.

With a base price of 2 crores, Coetzee will be one of the most expensive buys in the mini-Auction.

Mumbai Indians will be eyeing for the South African along with RCB, CSK, and KKR.

Gerald proved to be a great T20 bowler in the SA 20 league and picked 17 wickets for the Joburg Super Kings.

Dary Mitchel

Expected Price – 12 Crores +

Dary Mitchel

Daryl Mitchell have been one of New Zealand team’s main stay for some time now. He is an extremely dangerous player in the white ball format and was one of the players for the New Zealand team in the ODI World Cup.

Mitchell will be in high demand for team’s looking for a fourth seamer or a slog over specialist with the bat.

Travis Head

Expected Price – 12 Crores +

Travis Head

Travis Head put himself in the record books when he hit a match-winning century in the finals to win the tournament for his country.

He has proved that he is a big match player and he was the difference when the Australian team won the Test Championship this year.

He is a handy spinner and easily bowls 2-3 overs in Indian Conditions with ease.

All teams looking for an opener will gun for Travis and will be amongst the costlier buys in the mini-auction.

He can add value to any team, either as an opener or as a finisher.

Azmatullah Omarzai

Expected Price – 8 Crores +

Azmatullah Omarzai

We feel, Azmatullah Omarzai will raise quite a few eyebrows in this auction and will be among the costliest players from Afghanistan.

A New Ball bowler and a handy top-end batsman is gold dust and that’s what the Afghani brings to the auction table.

His impressive performances in India during the ODI World Cup can lead him to a big deal in the IPL.

Omarzai scored 353 runs from nine matches, including three fifties, against India, Sri Lanka, and South Africa. He Narrowly missed a century against South Africa.

Dilshan Madhushanka

Expected Price – 5 Crores +

Dilshan Madhushanka

Dilshan Madhushanka has made big strides in his young international career and will be a player all teams will be keen due to his subcontinental experience.

While Sri Lanka had a poor World Cup Campaign, Dilshan was the only exception who was consistent and performed in all the matches he played.

Madushanka scalped 21 wickets in the World Cup and ended up as the tournament’s third-highest wicket-taker.

He is effective with the new ball which will be his USP in the auction.

He is a left-arm pacer who can swing the ball in the early phases of a game and takes wickets at regular intervals.

Harshal Patel

Expected Price – 5 Crores +

Harshal Patel

Harshal Patel would want to forget a poor 2023 and 2022 IPL season and look towards the 2024 season. He was RCB’s go-to bowler and will be still a big player in the auctions.

RCB may hope to bring Harshal back but an Indian Pace bowler in the auction pool is a rarity and hence will be on the wish list of all teams.

Rajasthan Royals will also be interested in capitalizing on the slow and low home surface.

Harshal will be lucky to go for a mindboggling figure in this auction too.

Conclusion

BCCI has requested all the franchises to add additional players to the auction if they wish to and If the players are interested and eligible will be automatically drafted among the already registered players.

Note: Wanindu Hasaranga is not on our list. Our sources were not sure if the Sri Lankan allrounder would be fit for the season.  If available, he will be a hot pick too.

Mallika Sagar, renowned for her role as the auctioneer for the Women’s Premier League (WPL), is being considered to lead the IPL 2024 auction, pending her availability.
