The second test between India and Australia will be played from February 17 to February 21 at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi from 9:30 AM IST.

The Border Gavaskar Trophy 2023 started with a winning note for Team India and the second test match will be in the national capital.

India would want to make it 2-0 after India thrashed Australia by an innings and 132 runs and slowly making their move to the World Test Championship Finals.

A spinner-friendly Kotla wicket (now Arun Jaitley Stadium) will await the jittery Australian Batsman, who will have a lot of questions on the pitch as historically, it is known to turn and keep low. Shreyas Iyer Fit

Suryakumar Yadav made his Test debut in the last game, replacing an injured Shreyas Iyer. Now that Shreyas is fit again, that will keep Sky warming the bench again.

There is a lot of chatter about the playing 11 for Team India. Whether KL Rahul will be dropped or Surya sits out for Shreyas will be discussed till the first ball is bowled tomorrow.

Rahul’s prolonged dip in form is a real concern in all three formats.  The question is, will Shubman also get a chance? Or Shreyas come back in the in the middle order? Historically, the injured player gets his place back immediately on gaining full fitness. Sky may be rested as he came in as a replacement for Shreyas. While the SuperSports team believe that KL Rahul will play the second test, we also believe that this could be a make-or-break Test Match for KL Rahul. A call might be taken on KL if the second test performance goes south for this Bangalore player. Shreyas, who is good against spin, will also play.

The bowling attack seems to have no shakeups and India is expected to play the same bowling unit. India was also having a look at the left arm pacer Unadkat, but with Saurashtra now in the Finals against Bengal in the Ranji Final, the Indian Think tank has released the south paw to have a bigger role in the domestic Ranji Final. It is very encouraging to see domestic cricket is being treated and given equal importance. It means that Axar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja, and Ravichandran Ashwin will be in focus and Kuldeep may have to sit on the bench for a bit more.

Travis Head Exclusion in the First Test

Australia made a huge blunder by not playing Travis Head in the first Test. The team was heavily criticised by all Senior Ex Australian players and the SuperSports team felt that Australia will replace Head with Renshaw, who looked like fish out of water on the slow turning track in Nagpur.

Former Australian captain Steve Waugh was perplexed by the team management’s decision to not consider Travis Head, while Ricky Ponting and Mitchell Johnson urged dismissing David Warner.

Delhi will also see a slow turn. What we know historically of the Delhi Pitch is it will have very low bounce. Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja will be a hard nut to crack in this pitch. Ravi Ashwin will also be a handful.
