Mumbai Indians won 5 out of their last 7 matches to storm into the playoffs. This momentum will help the Mumbai Indians who has peaked at the best possible time.

Mumbai Indians has always been slow starters and took some time to sort out their final playing eleven as they were hit by a series of injuries.

On paper. if all their players were fit, the team looks a very formidable side but with the early withdrawal of Jasprit Bumrah and Jhye Richardson, has dented the bowling line-up. They were the first-choice bowlers along with Jofra Archer.

With the unavailability of Jofra Archer after couple of games meant that Mumbai Indians had to rely on their backup bowlers. This disturbed the balance of the side.

Chris Jordan coming in as replacement for Jofra Archer is yet to make an impact.

Even after all the issues in their bowling, the team put their faith on young Indian Players like Akash Madhwal, Kumar Kartikeya and Nehal Wadhera who stepped up and made the team a cohesive one. Veterans like Piyush Chawla became a go to bowler for Rohit Sharma.

Batting has been Mumbai Indian’s strength this year and even after some mediocre bowling performance, the Mumbai Indians batting comfortably chased out targets in excess of 200 in more than 3-4 occasions.

Lucknow Super Giants, with their all-round squad, started well in the tournament but lost their way in the middle only to regroup and become the third qualifier in the playoffs.

The unfortunate loss of their captain, KL Rahul due to an injury while fielding, came as blessing in disguise as KL was struggling with form for quite some time. His inconsistency and poor strike rate were hurting the team’s cause.

KL Rahul’s absence meant that Quinton De Kock could get a place in the opening slot with the inform Kyle Mayers who now makes a formidable opening pair.

The out of form Marcus Stoinis has now found his lost form and becomes an extremely crucial player along with Nicholas Pooran in the middle overs when the team requires quick runs
