Gujarat Titans will play host to Kolkata Knight Riders in Gujarat Titan’s third match of the IPL season 2023. Will they be able to achieve a hat trick of wins on the double header Super Sunday clash? Gujarat are with 4 points and Kolkata Knight Riders having won one and lost one are with 2 Points. They too will be playing their 3^rd match of the tournament. This will be a day game and the warm weather of Gujarat will welcome both teams.

Defending champions Gujarat Titans will be full of confidence having beaten Chennai Super Kings in the opener and Delhi Capitals in the 7^th match of the tournament. A well balanced T20 side, Gujarat Titans has all bases covered, both in bowling and batting which other teams are desperately seeking. New heroes have emerged like youngster Sai Sudharshan who showed maturity and skill in their last game. This also shows that the team is not depended on few players for wins. The experienced Mohammed Shami and Rashid Khan gives solidity to the bowling unit with Joshua Little.

Gujarat Titans will be aware that their batting has not been tested fully as they have probably played against the two weaker bowling teams in the competition and Kolkata cannot be taken lightly. While bowling is a well-oiled unit, one small concern will be the strength of the batting line-up with captain Hardik not in good batting form in the tournament so far. They will over rely on David Miller as he is the cog in their batting line-up to guide the team during the middle to the end overs of an inning.

Kolkata having lost their opener against Punjab Kings made a statement by coming strong against Royal Challengers beating them by a huge margin of 81 runs. The scary part of the 205 runs made by Kolkata Knight Riders against Royal Challengers Bangalore was, the big hitting Andre Russel didn’t even open his account.  The Momentum of this huge win will lift the Kolkata Knight Riders against Gujarat Titans. Having played a significant role in the last edition of the IPL, Venkatesh Iyer is yet to come to the party. He scored 38 runs in his first outing but failed to score against RCB.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz has been a revelation and another Afghan Player making a mark in the IPL. His initial start propelled the Kolkata Knight Rider’s team to the mammoth total against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Kolkata Knight Riders need their two West Indian Andre Russel and Sunil Narine to fire . It would not be a bad idea to send Sunil up the order as he is the most effective as an opener. Suyash Sharma the young mystery spinner had an impressive outing and look to continue his good form. Jason Roy’s Addition will make the Kolkata Knight Rider’s team very balanced.

The Narendra Modi Stadium will be a good wicket to bat on but will definetly assist the spinners due to the nature of the soil. This being a day wicket, dew will not play a part and batting first will be an advantage here. Gujarat prefers to chase while KKR prefers to put score on the board. If they get their respective wishes, it will be a tough match.
